Once again, in a big semi-final of a 20-20 World Cup, India failed to dish out a strong performance and, thus, couldn't progress into the final. Once again, they have been knocked out in the semi-final encounter of a World Cup. England crushed India in the big game and won it by massive 10 wickets.

Chasing a 168-run total, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales made a mockery of India’s bowling unit. Both showed intent right from the start and didn’t let the Indian bowlers settle. Not a single Indian bowler managed to put the England duo under pressure.

Buttler and Hales put on an exhibition of fours and sixes and reached the 100-run mark in just 61 balls. Only 72 runs were needed in the final 10 overs and England chased down the score with 4 overs left in the match. Jos Buttler and Alex Hales ended up playing unbeaten knocks of 80 (49) and 86 (47) respectively.

Earlier, India got off to the worst possible start. Both the openers found it hard to score runs and departed cheaply, as a result. KL Rahul got out after scoring one boundary, while Rohit Sharma struggled his way to 27 off 27 before getting out on the next ball. Suryakumar Yadav too had a rare bad day with the bat but Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya brought India back into the game with a solid partnership.

Kohli went on to score a half-century but it was Hardik Pandya’s 63 off 33, which gave India the finish that they were looking for. Thanks to those contributions, India ended up notching a competitive score of 168 runs in the first innings.

India bowlers looked pretty ordinary against the likes of Buttler and Alex. They failed to put them under pressure and leaked runs in almost every over. The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami, Ashwin, and Pandya conceded more than 11 runs an over as India, yet again, have been knocked out with a disappointing loss in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The fans are disappointed with the defeat. Here’s a look at how they have reacted on Twitter:
